The 1920’s ushered in great changes in lifestyle and culture
from flapper fashions to speakeasies. All for a Song, by Allison Pittman, follows
Dorothy as she searches for her place in life amidst the Roaring Twenties. In
many ways choices had been pretty narrow for Dorothy in her small hometown.
These choices were further curtailed by her engagement to the new preacher and
the fact she was a pastor’s kid. As it gets closer to the wedding Dorothy
suddenly feels restless and it is arranged for her to visit her sister in St
Louis. This starts a journey that will take her all the way to Los Angeles and the discovery of all twenties has to offer. Dorothy journey leads her to discover that finding joy in life is not just about
following the trends or about staying in the past but finding the way that God
has laid out for you.
Have a good read, Nina
